Okay so this was a pretty good week!
We went to the Kansas City Temple last week and it was amazing, we went with the Topeka Zone and had lunch with Prez. Bell&Sis.Bell- It was pretty great. I remember the first time I went through the temple for my endowments and how I probably looked like a dear in headlights. I mean I was in the Lords house, I was making a very big covenant with God and while I was thinking about my life[ which is a very good time to do so in the temple, might I add] It hit me that I could never go back to the old "Savannah". But, when I went through again tuesday, it was a very peaceful belonging- this was home and being with over 40 missionaries, the spirit was undeniable. Ladies were coming up to me and telling me how awesome it was to go through a session with all the missionaries. (: We also met the temple president who is also amazing! I wish you could have all been there to just be in his presence.
Alex was confirmed a member of the church and was given the gift of the Holy Ghost yesterday at church. Out of all the sacrament meetings I have been to here in Hiawatha, yesterday was probably the best one I've been in. We have had struggles in the branch with people offending and not being very Christlike. We as a district fasted and prayed for a change of heart in ourselves and in the branch because it was becoming very depressing. Then BAM! Church was awesome and seriously, members were testifying of being truly converted and service! It was the craziest seeing someone that was so far gone because of past experiences, cry when he realized he needed to change. God is awesome. Later that day, we went to the Allens house and they fed us.. like they always do. (: But the dad was there and now he is investigating! I first met him with Sister Gundy and he told us he would come when he's ready and now look at where he is!! AHH! He was moved my the spirit to open up to us and talk about his life, It was so cool. He is awesome and I'm so excited for him and his family! (:
The weather is Bipolar and its raining today, the elders are sick with the flu/cold. But, life is great! things are looking up and I'm just happy. (: We are heading over the Junction City on Wednesday for Zone Conference and I'm soooo excited! We were given a talk to look over by Jeffery R. Holland called "Feed my Sheep". It is awesome. Go read it. My favorite part is when he is talking about, Jesus saying to Peter, "Do you love me?" and peter is like "yea, Lord...thou knowest that I love thee" and Christ responds, "feed my sheep" and Christ asks Peter 3 times "do you love me" and by the end Peter is a little uncomfortable and confused at why Christ keeps asking him the same question. To which Jesus responded (and here again I acknowledge my nonscriptural elaboration), perhaps saying something like: [ I want you to imagine Elder Holland speaking] "Then Peter, why are you here? Why are we back on this same shore, by these same nets, having this same conversation? Wasn't it obvious then and isn't it obvious now that if I want fish, I can get fish? What I need, Peter, are disciples—and I need them forever. I need someone to feed my sheep and save my lambs. I need someone to preach my gospel and defend my faith. I need someone who loves me, truly, truly loves me, and loves what our Father in Heaven has commissioned me to do. Ours is not a feeble message. It is not a fleeting task. It is not hapless; it is not hopeless; it is not to be consigned to the ash heap of history. It is the work of Almighty God, and it is to change the world. So, Peter, for the second and presumably the last time, I am asking you to leave all this and to go teach and testify, labor and serve loyally until the day in which they will do to you exactly what they did to me."
I hope you are able to apply this to yourself and that you realize - if you are the same person you were yesterday you ARE NOT progressing in the gospel. The gospel of Jesus Christ changes lives! and if you are not being changed by it, you ARE NOT living it. I invite you all to strive to live and be disciples of Christ- FOREVER!
I love you all and hope you have better week than last week and enjoy the weather!
(:
